Kathmandu, June 7, 2026 : World-renowned hotel chain Marriott International and CG Hospitality Global have signed a landmark agreement to bring two international luxury hotels to Nepal. Under the deal, The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu and The Westin Kathmandu will be developed in the capital.

This partnership marks the first entry of Marriott’s prestigious luxury and premium brands into the Nepali market.

Both hotels are expected to open by 2031 and are anticipated to become major attractions for high-end tourists.

The agreement is expected to strengthen long-term collaboration between Marriott International and CG Hospitality while adding a new dimension to Nepal’s hospitality and tourism sector.

The projects will be developed in partnership with Chaudhary Group, IEG Group, IJ Group, and Sharma & Company.

The signing ceremony was attended by Marriott International Board Chairman David Marriott, Chaudhary Group and CG Hospitality Global Chairman Binod Chaudhary, CG Corp Global Managing Director and CEO Rahul Chaudhary, Marriott International President for Asia Pacific (excluding China) Rajeev Menon, and Senior Vice President for South Asia Kiran Andikot, among others.

 A New Chapter for Nepal’s Tourism

Following the agreement, Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott International Asia Pacific, expressed excitement about expanding world-class hospitality in a market with high potential like Nepal. He believes these projects will significantly contribute to tourism promotion, local employment generation, and regional economic development.

Rahul Chaudhary, CEO of CG Hospitality Global, described the collaboration as a major step toward elevating Nepal and South Asia’s hospitality industry.

He highlighted the goal of combining international brand standards with local experiences to position Kathmandu as a world-class hospitality destination.

 Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu

The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu will be located in the prime tourist area of Thamel.

The hotel will feature 150 rooms, including 30 luxury suites, five restaurants and bars, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, a Ritz-Carlton Spa, and over 1,100 square meters of modern meeting and event spaces.

Situated approximately five kilometers from Tribhuvan International Airport, the hotel will be close to major cultural landmarks such as Thamel, Narayanhiti Palace Museum, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, and Pashupatinath.

Westin Kathmandu

The Westin Kathmandu will offer 150 premium rooms and suites.

Facilities will include three dining venues, a Westin Workout fitness studio, Heavenly Spa, a rooftop swimming pool, and over 700 square meters of modern meeting and banquet spaces.

True to the Westin brand’s wellness philosophy, the hotel will prioritize guests’ health, relaxation, and balanced lifestyle.

Expanding Marriott-CG Partnership

This agreement represents the latest milestone in the growing partnership between Marriott International and CG Hospitality.

In India alone, the two companies have signed deals for over 75 hotels under the “Series by Marriott” brand in the past two years, with 50 hotels already operational across 43 cities.

CG Hospitality currently operates and manages more than 220 hotels and resorts across 130 destinations in 12 countries, including the Philippines, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Kenya, UAE, and the United States. The company aims to expand its portfolio to 600 hotels and over 30,000 keys by 2030.

Hospitality experts believe the arrival of globally acclaimed brands like Ritz-Carlton and Westin in Kathmandu will elevate Nepal’s luxury tourism segment, attract high-spending visitors, and boost international investor confidence in the country.
